The Biggest National Park 🇮🇹
The Pollino National Park is the largest protected natural park in Italy, spreading over more than 192,000 hectares of pristine wilderness and cultural landscapes across Basilicata and Calabria in Southern Italy.
Founded mainly to preserve the last remaining wild populations of the Bosnian Pine (Pinus heldreichii / Pino Loricato), the park serves as a sanctuary against environmental destruction, safeguarding one of Europe’s most precious alpine and Mediterranean biodiversity hot-spots.
